Expert Tips for Scarpa Grout
Match your grout choice to your installer's experience. SPEC requires a specialist. If you're not certain your crew has worked with traditional cement mortars on natural stone, specify sanded grout - the result will be better.
Batch number is everything for color. Order all grout at once and confirm the lot number. A second delivery from a different batch can shift the joint color visibly, especially with SPEC.
Clean water is non-negotiable. Milky rinse water re-deposits haze on the marble surface. Change your bucket every section, not every hour.
Wet areas get sanded grout. Its built-in polymer plus a topical sealer is the most reliable protection for showers and floors.
Seal before you grout, always. Marble is porous. Grout will stain it permanently without a penetrating sealer applied first.

FAQs
The Carlo Scarpa Marble Mosaic is an architecturally inspired marble mosaic that pays tribute to Italian craftsmanship and the refined material language of Carlo Scarpa. It features carefully composed marble pieces arranged in a structured yet organic layout, creating depth, rhythm, and timeless visual interest.
As a natural stone product, variation is expected and essential to the character of this collection. Differences in color, veining, shading, and texture will occur from piece to piece. These natural qualities give each installation depth and individuality.
To achieve a cohesive result, we recommend mixing tiles from multiple boxes during installation.
Yes. Marble tiles can be used outdoors when properly specified, sealed, and installed for the environment. For exterior applications, factors such as climate, exposure, waterproofing, and drainage should always be reviewed with your installer.
Marble is also compatible with radiant floor heating systems. The heating system should be turned off prior to installation and remain off during curing. Once the installation is fully cured, the system should be restarted gradually to avoid thermal shock.
Samples are intended to represent the overall look and feel of the collection. Because each tile is cut from natural marble, exact color, veining, and patterning will vary between samples, production batches, and full orders. This variation is normal and expected.
Ordering at least 15% extra material allows for cuts, waste, and potential future repairs.
For more intricate layouts or projects requiring tighter visual control, an overage of 15–25% is recommended to support proper selection and blending during installation.
The Carlo Scarpa Marble Mosaic Mesh is finished with a honed matte surface. This process creates a smooth, soft feel with a muted appearance, avoiding the shine of polished marble and delivering a modern, architectural look.
Yes. Sealing is required both before and after grouting to help protect the marble from moisture and staining.
For added protection prior to grouting especially when working with darker grout we recommend STONETECH® Heavy Duty Sealer by LATICRETE.
For long-term performance, STONETECH® Bullet Proof Sealer by LATICRETE is recommended.
Use only pH-neutral cleaners formulated for natural stone. Avoid acidic or abrasive products, which can damage or etch the marble.
For routine care and deeper cleaning, we recommend products from the LATICRETE stone care collection.
